I could use help identifying this plane. I figured Oppo would know right away what it is. Thanks in advance!

I’ve heard of these before. They’re like mechanical birds.

T-6 Texan.
EDIT: I was wrong. Might be a Vultee BT-13.

The wings look too square, was there a different version?

Looks a bit like a Curtiss P-36 Hawk.

Nope. Vultee BT-13, aka the Vultee Vibrator.

Don’t think it’s a fighter...fixed landing gear...most had retractable. Maybe an old trainer of some sort?
Radial engine...guessing a Valiant?

Something naval. I’d want to say Corsair but the wings are straight.

Too square wingtips, I think, and too short a nose.

The Texan also had retractable gear - the ones on the plane in the pic look permanent.

Nope, I’ve flown in a AT-6 Texan... it wasn’t that. But it looks like ttyymmnn got it. :)
Thank you for your help, though! ^_^

The Commemorative Air Force uses the BT-13 as the basis for its Kate torpedo bomber replicas.

:O That looks intense.
I still remember when they were called the Confederate Air Force, which I always thought was hilarious (and racist) since airplanes didn’t exist during the Confederacy. I was glad when they finally changed their name to the Commemorative Air Force since it really suits their mission so much better. Never realized they had THAT many planes, though (just looked up their official website).
I kinda love that at least some of them are sci-fi geeks, too, apparently, since this is the very first thing listed under their mission statement:
“A generation which ignores history has no past and no future” – Robert Heinlein
Though, Heinlein isn’t exactly the most.... intersectional science fiction author. Oh well... baby steps, I guess. I can grok it.

They also use the BT-13 as the basis for their Val dive bomber replicas. These are my pictures, btw.
I also support the change to Commemorative Air Force. Not only does it reflect their mission, it has the added bonus of not having to change their logo or letterhead.

That’s a great photo. I love the two in the background. Were they simulating a dogfight?
I have another plane I might need your help identifying. It’s a biplane... lemme edit a low-res copy of it and I’ll post it shortly.

The CAF does a re-enactment of the attack on Pearl Harbor titled (not surprisingly) “Tora Tora Tora.” This is one of their “Zero” fighters, which is actually a modified T-6.

Hard to be 100% sure from underneath, but just based on the numbers manufactured and still flying, I’d say it’s a Stearman PT-13. Maybe even this same one. I shot this a few weeks ago at a show in Abilene.
